Knowledge Gap Testing

Over the years, I have met parents who are unaware if their child is on grade level. So, I offered grade level and knowledge gap testing. The results allowed parents to understand which skills and subject matter were mastered and which skills and subject matter were missing from their child’s education. I began tracking the results over the years and learned that many children were experiencing huge gaps in information necessary to understand advanced topics. For example, if a student is in seventh grade, the student should know the basic information on the American Revolution. Most parents would tell me that their child learned about the Revolutionary War in 4th or 5th grade, but the child cannot express who were the participants in the war or why the war was fought.
